Back Where It All Began

In 1886, the Bank of Colwich opened its doors, marking the beginning of our story. Now, 140 years later, we continue to invest in our home, and we want your input in shaping what comes next.

In 1886, a group of pioneers opened the Bank of Colwich with $10,000 and a bold vision. What began as a small-town bank quickly became a cornerstone of the community, supporting generations of families and local businesses.

Since 1911, five generations of the Suellentrop family have helped guide the institution through historic moments and industry change, remaining grounded in our values while adapting to meet the needs of each new era. In 2000, State Bank of Colwich became Legacy Bank—a name that reflects both our history and our future.

Most recently, in a meaningful return to our roots, Legacy Bank repurchased the original bank building at 400 W. Wichita Ave. This investment honors where our story began and reflects an ongoing belief in the strength and future of the Colwich community.
