Legacy Bank Celebrates Community Bank Month and 140 Years of Community Banking

Banking Built to Back You.

April is Community Bank Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the important role community banks play in supporting all things local and strengthening the communities they serve.

Legacy Bank will celebrate by recognizing the relationships and communities that have shaped the bank’s story for 140 years.

Founded on February 22, 1886, as the Bank of Colwich, Legacy Bank has spent more than a century building lasting relationships with those it serves. Today, that same commitment continues through the bank’s promise of “Banking Built to Back You.”

As the culmination of a month-long celebration, Legacy Bank will host a Customer Appreciation Day on Thursday, April 23, at all ten branch locations throughout Wichita, Colwich, Sedgwick and Pratt. Customers are invited to stop by their local branch to enjoy snacks, giveaways, and raffle drawings as a small thank-you for the trust and relationships built over the years.

“Community banks exist to serve the needs of those who have entrusted us with their financial futures and to support the entire community,” said Steven F. Suellentrop, President/CEO. “Our 140-year milestone is really about celebrating the people who have trusted us with their stories, their businesses, their futures and most importantly, their friendship.”

Legacy Bank is also inviting customers to share their memories and experiences with the bank as part of the anniversary celebration. Whether it’s a first savings account, a business milestone, or a family tradition, Legacy Bank hopes to collect and share stories that highlight the role community banking plays in people’s lives.

Customers can share their stories in person at any branch location or by filling out the form below.
