Goddard North Park Officially Named Legacy Bank Park
We are proud to partner with the City of Goddard on a $12 million regional destination built for recreation, connection, and community.
The City of Goddard is proud to announce it is officially naming the highly anticipated Goddard North Park as “Legacy Bank Park,” recognizing a transformational leadership gift from Legacy Bank in support of one of the community’s most significant public investments to date. Legacy Bank’s extraordinary naming rights commitment will help elevate the project from an exceptional local park to a premier regional destination for recreation, events, and family gatherings.
The City of Goddard extends special thanks to the Legacy Bank Board, the Suellentrop Family, and President and CEO Steven Suellentrop for their belief in Goddard’s future and their investment in a project that will serve families for generations to come.
“This regional attraction would not be built to such a high standard without the support of Legacy Bank,” said City officials. “Their leadership gift means everything to our community. It is a powerful statement of confidence in Goddard, in our families, and in the future of this region.”
Located at the southwest corner of Maple Street and 183rd Street, Legacy Bank Park is envisioned as a signature recreational destination that will serve both local residents and visitors from across the region. The nearly $12M park is located near Tanganyika Wildlife Park and is designed to attract significant visitation and serve one of the fastest-growing areas in Kansas.
Legacy Bank is celebrating 140 years of community banking in 2026 and is proud to partner with the City of Goddard on a project that will bring people together for years to come.
“It has always been our mission to give back to the communities that have supported us,” said Steven Suellentrop, President and CEO of Legacy Bank. “We are blessed with strong customer relationships and with a dedicated team of employees, who make it possible for us to invest in meaningful projects like this and create a lasting impact in the communities we serve.”
Legacy Bank’s commitment to Goddard extends beyond the park project. The bank is also eager to share its plans to expand its presence in the community with a new branch opening in 2027 as part of the Paradise Corner development, located at Highway 54 and Main Street. This location will mark Legacy Bank’s 11th branch.
When completed, Legacy Bank Park will feature an impressive mix of family-centered and regional-draw amenities, including:
- A destination playground
- Innovative indoor/outdoor pavilion
- Private meeting space for parties, business meetings, and other events
- A large recreational water feature designed for fishing, kayaking, perimeter path for exercising, and wildlife observation
- A dog park
- Pickleball courts
- and a food truck area
Future phases of the park are intended to further cement the site as a regional attraction through the development of an amphitheater and boathouse.
The public is invited to join the City and Legacy Bank for a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, May 28th at 11:30am, as the community celebrates the official kickoff of this exciting project.
And this is only the beginning.
When the time comes in spring 2027 to cut the ribbon and officially open Legacy Bank Park, the City expects a major community celebration complete with music, food, entertainment, fishing competitions, pickleball competitions, and more.
Legacy Bank’s commitment is more than a sponsorship. It is a legacy-defining investment in Goddard’s future. And, as this partnership continues to grow, the community has even more to look forward to in the days ahead.
The City of Goddard would also like to give a special thanks to members of its Legacy Bank Park design team, Schaefer Architecture and Baughman Company. Conco Construction will lead the way in building the park.
